Circuit City Progresses Near Lincoln Center

CircuitcitylincolnsqAs we were taking this picture of what we have been told is Circuit City's future site at Lincoln Square, a woman peered in an asked with excited curiousity what store was coming into the space left empty by Tower Records' liquidation.
"Circuit City," we told her.
"Uggh," she groaned in disgust, "As if we need another one of those."
What can we say? We didn't lease it to them. The space is empty and something has to go there. At any rate, it looks like things are coming along there faster than we thought. New escalators have already been installed, and what we could see of the layout suggests that, like its Union Square store, most of the selling space will be upstairs. In addition, it appears that most of the main floor has been carved out for a separate store.
Our guess is that it may be ready in a few months, giving West Siders no shortage of places to shop for computer gear and flat-panel TVs.
