Crocs Spawns a Shop on the Upper West Side

Crocscolumbus

People who love Crocs and wear them everywhere will tell you it's because they are sooo comfortable. To that we say, so are fluffy bunny bedroom slippers, but you don't wear those around the city do you? If you do, then congratulations on your eccentric style. As for the rest of you croc-wearers, we throw our hands up in exasperation.
Crocs have created one of those aesthetically repugnant crazes that just won't go away. The first thing you will notice upon entering their new store on Columbus Avenue, after you have acclimated yourself to the aroma of bacteria resistant rubber, is that like some alien virus, the shoes have mutated into all sorts of different forms like duck boots, flip flops, some with fleecy linings and even some sneaky models that barely look like Crocs at all. In fact the "hi cruiser" desert boot style is almost passable. Fans of the classic slingback/clog style should be assured that there is still an abundance of those hideous shoes you love in an endless array of colors and patterns for the whole family including tie-ins to your favorite movies and cartoon characters, as well as a special co-branded style with chef Mario Batali who singlehandedly proves that great culinary skill and sartorial style have absolutely no correlation. The store also offers tiny pins they call "jibbitz" meant to decorate your shoes by filling the little holes all over them.
It's like some weird shoe cult, but if you are a member, you will be happy to find the store packed with unflattering footwear options. Enjoy!
Crocs 270 Columbus Avenue at 73rd Street, Upper West Side
