Now Open: Reiss On Bleecker and Columbus

Reissbleecker

Popular British retailer Reiss has opened two new stores in its efforts to raise its profile in the U.S., a full line store on Bleecker Street and another on 69th and Columbus carrying only women's clothes. They have had a large shop in Soho for a couple of years now, and while they have been compared to Banana Republic, but they correspond more with the upper end of Contemporary, like Marc by Marc Jacobs.Reissuws Their higher prices are reflected in subtle bespoke-style details. The uptown store returns some of fashion luster back to Columbus Avenue which is starting to look more like it did in the heyday of Charivari. What is so significant about the glamorous downtown branch is its extension of the burgeoning Bleecker Street fashion district well beyond its unofficial Charles Street border. We wonder if Condomania's days are numbered.
